PATTAYA, Thailand, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China topped the medal table with 29 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals at the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships that ended here Friday.
DPR Korea finished second with 7 gold, 12 silver and 5 bronze medals.
The last day of the competition featured the women's over 87kg and men's over 109kg categories, with China's Li Wenwen making a clean sweep of three gold medals in the women's event.
Li succeeded in all her six attempts to take the title of snatch at 146kg and then won the clean and jerk title with a world record breaking performance of 185kg. Her winning total of 332kg also broke the world record of 331kg held by Tatiana Katiana of Russia.
In the men's over 109kg category, Georgia's Lasha Talakhadze broke all three world records in snatch, clean and jerk and total and secured all three gold medals for his country.
The 10-day championships also served as qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
