BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Beijing Fringe Festival will open on Sept. 13 with "Anna Karenina" from Russia, organizers said Tuesday.
The opening play, based on Leo Tolstoy's famous novel and directed by Alexander Galibin, will be presented by the Baltic House Theater.
During the two-month festival, 21 plays from China, Russia, France, Lithuania, Belgium and Brazil will be staged.
Started in 2008, the annual festival is dedicated to nurturing young artists and promoting quality theater for young people.
A total of 422 productions have been presented so far to nearly 450,000 audiences.
