JAKARTA, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese badminton player Chen Long will face Indonesian opponent Anthony Sinisuka Ginting on Friday in men's singles semifinal at the Malaysian Master 2019.
The Chinese player defeated another Indonesian opponent Jonathan Cristie at a second round match on Thursday with scores 21-15 and 21-18 in 45 minutes. The match took place at Stadium Axiata of Kuala Lumpur Sport City of Malaysia.
Indonesian player Ginting admitted that the upcoming match will be tough and he will struggle hard.
"I prepared for my physical condition and will focus on the playing as the match tomorrow (Friday) will not be easy compared with the match today (Thursday) and yesterday," said Ginting.
Ginting defeated Indian player Parupalli Kashyap in the second round of the tournament on Thursday in 21-17, 25-23 within 53 minutes.
Ginting is the only Indonesian player going to the semifinal of the tournament as two other Indonesian players Tomy Sugiarto and Jonathan Cristie have suffered from losses.
The Malaysian Master 2019 kick off on Tuesday and will end on Sunday.
The Malaysian Masters 2019 is the second tourney of the 2019 BWF World Tour and also parts of the Malaysian Masters championships, which has been held since 2009. The tournament was organized by the badminton Association of Malaysia, sanctioned by the BWF.
